Headlights
Before buying new headlights (or headlamps),
there are a few things you should
know about
them.
Most cars today use halogen bulbs. Halogen
provides a brighter beam than the old fashion
incandescent bulbs and sealed beam lights
of the past.
The latest bulb technology is High Intensity
Discharge (HID) lights -- you'll recognize
them as the "blue" headlights,
and they are also called "xenon"
lights because of the gas used inside them.
These bulbs provide even stronger light while
drawing less electricity. However, performance
is rarely without cost -- HID lights can
run four to five times as much as halogen.
Down the road, look for LED lights
to make
an appearance as they have already
in the
flashlight market.
By the way, remember that headlights
are
designed for which side of the
road the car
travels on, so be sure to buy
the appropriate
headlights for your country.
