Laser Beard Sculpting
Men who like the casual and virile two day
old beard look sported by so many celebrities
but hate the unkempt appearance that can
actually result from not shaving should consider
having laser beard sculpturing. Lasers have
been used for many years to permanently remove
unwanted hair. Improved laser technology
can produce neatly edged beard lines and
eliminate scraggly patches of hair on the
face and neck that spoil the desired unshaven
effect. If you are thinking of having laser
sculpturing, consider the following:
- Lasers can be used to remove unwanted hair
from the back and throat areas. For men who
have heavy facial hair and suffer from “five
o’clock shadow,” laser treatments can produce
a neatly manicured line at the throat, eliminating
the scruffy hairs that grow in every direction.
Lasers can also be used to define a line
along the upper margins of the beard. This
looks best when a soft natural beard line
is created with a rounded line around the
sides.
- Laser treatments work best on men with light
skin tones and dark hair. Blonde hair is
often too fine for the laser to work. Newer
models lasers now can remove hair on darker
skinned men without causing uneven skin coloration.
- Laser treatments can last from five minutes
to an hour, depending on the number of hairs
to be removed. Beard sculpturing may take
4 to 6 separate laser treatments that are
spaced three to four weeks apart. Some of
the hair that has been removed may reappear
in time and must be treated again.
Some temporary mild discomfort will often
result from the laser treatment. Individuals
will vary in their skin sensitivity.
