Baby High Chairs
Once a baby can reliably sit up, the easiest
way to feed him or her is in a high
chair.
High chairs need to be sturdy, safe,
and
easy to clean. Since they will be used
for
several years and probably passed on
to another
child, they should be made from materials
such as wood or heavy duty plastic.
The following
should be considered when buying a
high chair:
- It should have a durable safety harness.
- The tray should be easy to remove for cleaning.
Compartments for holding jars and
dishes
are handy.
- Castors make it easy to move the high chair,
but they should have locks for safety.
- A collapsible high chair can be folded up
and moved, but you should be able to securely
lock it when the child is using it. Make
sure it will fit in your car if you are planning
to take it with you on trips.
- High chairs that can be adjusted for height
are more versatile. Always check
the manufacturer's
guidelines for age and weight.
- Look for easily removable seat covers that
can be washed in the washing machine.
