Jute Rugs
Jute rugs are made from the jute plant, whose
long fiber strands result in rugs that are
extremely durable and smooth. They are inexpensive
and comfortable underfoot. Most are reversible
for even longer wear. They come in a wide
range of colors and have a soft, natural
patterned look that makes them suitable for
any room.
They following should be considered
when
buying a jute rug:
- Jute rugs usually come in standard rug sizes
from 2x3 feet up to 9x12 feet. Ordering a
custom size rug can be more expensive. Because
they are relatively lightweight, these rugs
are easy to order online or through a catalog.
- Check to see how the ends of the rug are
finished off. Better rugs will
be edged with
hand knotted fringe rather
then just folded
over and sewn.
- Using a rug pad under a jute rug is recommended
to prevent slipping.
Clean jute rugs by vacuuming. Spills should
be blotted up right away. |
