Silk Flowers
Silk flowers are a wonderful way to have
beautiful bouquets in your home without having
to worry about watering or dead flowers.
They are now so natural looking that it is
only by touching them that you can tell they
are not real. Silk flowers can last for years,
and they can be used over and over again.
They can be used in every room in the house.
When buying silk flowers to make
arrangements,
here are some decorator tips:
- The simplest bouquets are made by using a
single type and color of flower (such as
tulips) and putting them in a vase. These
arrangements are most effective using flowers
currently in bloom.
- Combinations of silk flowers can be done
by selecting a variety of blooms
and foliage.
You can choose a seasonal group
of flowers,
a group of different textured
flowers in
various shades of the same
color, or a group
of highly contrasting colors.
- Arrangements used as centerpieces for the
table should not be more than 12 inches high
so that people can talk over the flowers.
- Most arrangements are more successful if
they look good from all angles.
A good rule
of thumb is to place the tallest
flowers
in the center and shorter ones
around the
edges.
- The container used in arrangements should
suit the style of the bouquet.
Rustic containers
look good with very casual
arrangements;
more formal looks call for
more elegant containers.
Finally, all silk flowers will last longer
