Electric Snow Shovels
If you need to remove snow from smaller areas
such as sidewalks, porches, patios, and decks,
you should consider buying an electric snow
shovel to make the job easier. These power
shovels can be used in situations where a
larger snow blower would be too bulky. And electric snow shovels
have other advantages:
- they are compact and lightweight and can
easily be lifted up exterior steps
- they take up little storage space.
- they require little or no maintenance.
- they do not require mixing oil with gasoline
for fuel or pulling a cord to start because
they operate by plugging into an electrical
outlet.
If you are thinking of buying
an electric
snow shovel, you should look
for the following
features:
- make sure that the shovel is powerful enough
to clear the snow. The shovel should be able
to throw the snow about 20 feet. It should
operate without difficulty in 6 inches of
snow.
- look for a safety on/off switch on the handle.
- an adjustable handle that can be extended
up to 11 inches will make the shovel more
comfortable to operate and cause less strain
on the back.
- some models convert to power brooms for sweeping
away leaves, gravel, dirt, and debris by
changing the rotor to a brush.
Remember that electric shovels will require
a heavy duty extension cord. Make sure you have a cord that is long
enough to reach your exterior outlet. |
