Birthday Party Ideas
Here are some suggestions we've used recently
that you may want to consider
for your next
birthday party:
- Group Trivia Games
- Born the Same Day - search on the internet
for famous people born on
the same day as
the celebrant. Make sure
you get a mix of
people older and younger
than the celebrant.
Then, create a page with
their pictures and
ask the guests to name the
person and their
age.
- Decade Game - create a list of questions
whose answer is related to
the same decade
as the age of the birthday
celebrant. For
example, a question for someone
turning 43
(and thus in their 40's)
might be "Name
the San Francisco football
team" --
Forty-niners.
- Gag gifts - often, guests feel pressure to
bring a nice birthday present. Dispel that
pressure by insisting that they bring a gag
gift instead. Have them bring a gift that
somehow uses the number of the celebrant's
age. For example, if the celebrant is turning
40, ask the guests to bring a present under
$5.00 such as a box containing 40 jelly beans.
At the party, have each person provide clues
to help the celebrant guess what it is before
opening it.
- Picture puzzle - a time-consuming task, but
one the recipient is sure to treasure. Ask
all of the celebrant's friends to email you
a recent photo of themselves with a birthday
message super-imposed on the picture. Create
a collage from all of the pictures, mount
the collage on heavy cardboard, wood, or
other suitable backing, and then cut it into
very large puzzle shaped pieces (where one
piece contains one picture). Return the cut
puzzle pieces to the guests to present upon
their arrival.
