Whether it's to promote your company or cause
or to give that special feeling
of belonging
to your family reunion, customized
tee shirts
(or "t-shirts") are
a fun, popular,
and surprisingly inexpensive
way to get the
job done.
There are hundreds of vendors
locally and
nationally. As you compare their
offerings,
here are some points to consider:
- t-shirt - many companies offer shirts from major
apparel manufacturers. The
quality feel and
longevity of your shirt depends
on the shirt
you choose. Heavier shirts
("Beefy T's"
for example) are generally
associated with
a higher quality product, but
they may not
be suitable for hot summer
wear. Also, be
prepared to pay extra for the
extra large
sizes
- printing method - silk screening and iron transfer are the
common methods. Silk screening is usually
better but requires more setup work
- design - many vendors will accept a PC graphics
file; others will take "camera ready"
artwork; for a fee, some will take your rough
idea and do the creative work for you
- minimums, set-up costs, turnaround time,
and shipping - compare each vendor's offering in these
areas. Many companies require a minimum number
of shirts while others charge a set-up fee
instead.
