1776
by David McCullough

This book concentrates on the 1776 military campaigns of the American Revolution primarily from the perspective of the Continental Army. It is a very good overview of that crucial year’s fighting told in David McCullough’s customary engaging prose. For more in-depth treatments of specific aspects of the Revolution, we suggest two books by David Hackett Fischer, Washington’s Crossing and Paul Revere’s Ride, also reviewed by us.
