Despite a relatively short life (he succumbed
to alcoholism at age 42), Modest Musorgsky
(or Mussorgsky) was a highly original talent
and a founding father of the Russian classical
music tradition in the latter half of the
19th century. Admirers of his work will enjoy
this book greatly.
