Hi Kathy, I assume the headstone is granite, too. Also, as to your concern about damaging the headstone, I assume you want to attach the stone permanently but not do anything that will otherwise affect the appearance. Look for a good quality, weatherproof (moisture resistant) epoxy...that should do the trick for you. For something less permanent, try a tile adhesive.
