Although golf can be played alone, it is
a game best enjoyed in a group of two or
more. When courses are busy, the starter
will generally send players out in a foursome,
with each player taking turns until all players
have completed the same hole before moving
on.
The course consists of imaginatively designed
tees, fairways, roughs, hazards, and greens.
The goal is to get the ball into the hole
in the fewest strokes possible (a "par"
measurement is provided as a suggested number
of strokes). Courses generally have 9 or
18 holes, with games played to 9, 18, or
36 holes (if necessary, the holes are repeated
in order to reach the agreed number, although
many courses provide a different tee-off
spot for the second, or "back,"
